about The Vast Oddity
Using 2 guitars, 2 vocals, a loop pedal, stomp box and a pinch of sound experimentation, The Vast Oddity creates a spacey, slightly experimental, thumping surf-rock kinda sound. It is hazy, dazy and a little lo-fi. It makes you feel like you're drifting across the beach on a far out summers day... but on another planet... in another galaxy... you're also a Sasquatch.
Since forming in 2017, the band has released 5 singles and a 7 track album, Liquid Sun, on all major online music platforms. They’ve opened twice for Boo! as well as also having played alongside other great acts such as Desmond and the Tutus, THE BLACK CAT BONES and Dirty Moonshine.
Their singles have hit the airwaves over 30 radio stations country- and worldwide including Mix FM, Eden Radio, MegaZone Radio, UCT Radio, VOW FM (Voice of Wits), Radio Wigwam (UK), Paradise Radio (CA), Speysound Radio (UK), Radio Today Johannesburg, Good N Plenty Radio (Cocoa, Florida), SME Fusion Radio, KZN Capital, 102.8 Chorley FM (UK), Control Radio (UK), Radio15 (Switzerland), The Sound Lab (UK), Radio Reverb (UK), Radio Kaos Caribou (Ermont), Big City Radio (UK), Ersatz Radio (UK), Youth Today Radio, RA Rock Radio, on which their single Swell featured on the Top 40 for more than 3 weeks and reached number 11, and Zone Radio on which their single Squares Are People Too reached and stayed at number 1 on the top 40 for 5 weeks.
The Vast Oddity has performed at over 80 different venues across South Africa including Railways Cafe (Centurion), The Good Luck Bar (JHB), Arcade Empire (Pretoria), Calexico (JHB), The Winston Pub (Durban), MiTH (Music in The Hills)(Hilton), Northwood Crusaders Club (Durban), @Work Rocking Sports Bar (Jbay), Bloo Bistro (Knysna), Surf Cafe (Plett), St Francis Brewing Co (St Francis Bay), The Raptor Room (Cape Town) and Aandklas (Stellenbosch).
